In this blog we discuss topics related to human resourcing.
„What will be the hot but sometimes overlooked SAP skills in 2010? " A former colleague who is now working at a system integrator asked me this question when we both meet at the airport in Düsseldorf on our way home for the holiday season. RECRUITMENT firms will come under the spotlight this week as both Hays and Michael Page International (MPI) deliver trading updates on their progress during the recession.
Hays' update on Thursday has been overshadowed by news of its eye-watering £30.4 million fine from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). Almost £40m of penalties were handed out to six firms by the OFT, with Hays taking by far the largest fine.
Social networking site elbows in on LinkedIn's job-finding franchise.
When it comes to finding a new job, they say it’s all about who you know. With the rise of online social networks that has never been truer.
Today, 42% of adults in the U.S. with Internet access maintain a profile on a social networking site, up from 20% in 2007, according to Forrester Research. And in an economy where almost one-tenth of the population is unemployed, more job-seekers are likely to look for opportunities online.
Lloyds TSB, the part nationalised British bank, has downgraded the pay of its IT contractors, telling them they will work for up to 15 per cent less or face termination.
The bank has agreed with its recruiters that all IT freelancers will drop their daily rate by 10 per cent, or more, if they wish to keep their contract, under its plan to save billions.
A spokeswoman for the bank said: "Lloyds Banking Group has announced some changes to the rates for contractors within its group IT division."

Today’s job market offers a wide array of job search opportunities. Long gone are the days when jobs were sourced mostly by newspaper ads. With the opportunities available, you need to use the right methods to find one that suits your career aspirations.
