Windows Server 8
Microsoft has not announced a ship date for Windows Server 8, although roadmap documents released some time ago pegged it for 2012 (earning it the nickname of Windows Server 2012). A developer's preview of Windows Server 8, including Hyper-V, was made available during Microsoft's BUILD conference in Anaheim, Calif., in September.
Much more than a minor upgrade, Windows Server 8 brings many new features and functionality. The software is currently a Developer Preview release. This means Windows Server 8 isn't even available for beta testing yet.
My first contribution to Drupal.org
I made my first contribution to Drupal.org.
It concerns redirections of login. Login destination is a useful module for redirecting users after they logged in. You can redirect depending on roles, but I needed rules depending on which node the visitor was entering from.

What is Drupal - presentation
Last week I made a presentation "What is Drupal?" to a group of Sharepoint developers. It was quite interesting to see how they reacted and the discussion was intense!
I have added the presentation here, save from a few slides I had to delete due to the contents that would reveal the back-end set-up of the client. Download it or read it directly here at the bottom!
Ubuntu 11.10 released
Ubuntu Linux (a GNU/Linux-based computer operating system) version 11.10 has been released and available for download. The new release includes some enhancements to make your experience even more enjoyable. The Default user interface is set to unity shell on top of GNOME 3.x. However, you will get a 2D version of Unity as a fallback for systems that lack the hardware resources for the 3D version. The good news is you will be able to install the entire GNOME 3 desktop along with GNOME Shell directly from the Ubuntu repos.
Six recruitment trends Autumn 2011 - not a full stop but increasing uncertainty among recruiting clients
1) Specialists need to specialise more, they need deeper knowledge within their field. Meanwhile, managers need a broader knowledge base, they need to know more about more.
2) Recruiters need to dig deeper into the candidate's knowledge and ascertain that the candidate has values corresponding to the client.
3) Many enterprises in-source their recruitment needs, i.e. hires a human resources manager that conducts all HR functions internally.
Want to try Facebook's new timeline weeks before everyone else - follow these simple instructions on Facebook!
1. Get the Developer Facebook app. Type "Developer" into the Facebook search bar and click on the first result. Click "Allow." Now you're a developer.
2. In the top righthand corner of the Developer app, click on the "+ Create New App" button. Fill out the App display name and description. (Just make something up or type gibberish; this won't actually create an app that will be visible).

Google+ opens social network to everyone
Vic Gundotra, Google's senior vice president of social business: "We think there's lots of room for innovation"
Google+ is being opened up for anyone to join after two-and-a-half months in closed testing.
The search firm's latest foray into social networking was initially offered to journalists and people working in technology related fields.
However, members' ability to invite friends meant its user base quickly grew to tens of millions.
