The RiskMinds 2009 Risk Managers Survey

Printer-friendly versionSend to friendPDF version

It would be great if you could take the time to complete this anonymous online survey which as been put together by Moore, Carter & Associates.

I think the survey, "Giving voice to the risk management profession", is very well crafted, and once the findings are published, they may have a bearing on people's assessment of the causes of the financial crisis - and perhaps even help shape future reforms. The survey's validity will be strengthened based on the number of people who complete it. To participate press where it says "click here" towards the bottom of the forwarded message. sea egle

If you can think of anyone else who might have a view on why risk managers failed to avert the banking and financial crisis, please feel free to forward it to them for completion?

Please forgive the round robin, but I wanted to send this message quickly to all the people I know personally because I thought you would (and should) be interested in participating in this very important web survey which my new advisory firm Moore, Carter & Associates has designed with Professor Andrew Kakabadse of Cranfield Business School.

So far no one has carried out a really wide-ranging survey asking professionals all over the world what they think caused the banking crisis and what should be done about it.

In the UK, the Walker Review on corporate governance in banks and other financial entities is about to report. It did no survey. Major regulatory change is also happening in the US, the EU and throughout the world.

Those of us involved in any way professionally with the financial sector need to have our views heard. That is what this survey is about. Obviously it is anonymous!

We have already had a substantial number of responses to the survey. With help from you, the people I know, we are confident that this will be one the most important and newsworthy surveys in the financial sector this year. It would be great if you could do  two things to help the survey be a success:-

  • Complete the survey we have created for this purpose with Professor Andrew Kakabadse of Cranfield Business School. It only take 15-20 minutes. See more information below under my signature box along with the website URL where you can find the survey.
  • Please forward this email to all the people you know who work in this area who may have a view. Many of you are important "hubs" for viral distribution.

It's vital that our voice is heard at this significant moment of change. The more people who get involved and complete the survey, the more powerful our voice.

The survey is appropriate for anyone involved at a senior level in the financial sector and not just internal risk managers. We have sent it to internal risk managers, professional advisers, politicians, regulators, academics and journalists. It will be fascinating to know what people think and we will share the results widely and with you as well.

Many thanks for your help. See below my signature for further details and the web URL or just  CLICK HERE to go to the survey

We have already invited over 15,000 professionals involved in risk management in the financial sector to respond to the survey, which has been designed and conducted by Moore, Carter & Associates with Professor Andrew Kakabadse of Cranfield Business School of Management and Christopher Finger, Head of Global Research, RiskMetrics Group. The survey is sponsored by Curzon & Company LLP, the business strategy and implementation specialists.

Your insights and views will be crucial in stimulating informed debate and influencing the agenda for change in risk management, governance of risk and regulation in the financial sector.

The results will be first presented at the RiskMinds conference in Geneva in December 2009. They will also be shared widely with key policy-making bodies and through the media.

All respondents will have the option of receiving a summary and analysis in early December.
