Jobseekers need to keep an eye on which agencies to use in downturn
Huge Drop
Adecco, the world’s biggest agency, and the owners of Computer People, have announced a profits fall of 83%. This has pushed other agencies like SThree (Computer Futures, Huxley, Progressive and Harvey Nash) lower as well as Michael Page and Robert Walters. However, the agencies which are predominantly IT have held up better than others and Spring Group’s share price is actually up a little on the day.
It Will Happen
There is no doubt that before the end of this downturn there will be agencies going under and many surprised contractors will be owed thousands of euros that they will never get back. Better safe than sorry.
Opportunities in the downturn
There are always opportunities for new players, also in downturns. There are skills that are in high demand and typically these skills are still hard to find. A fresh recruitment agency that specialises in these high demand skills can even thrive in 2009. Asymptotix is growing under these conditions. Please have a look at our open positions for clues!
